Today I read about the 2012 Valentine Campaign “Have A Heart For Chained Dogs Week” from Dogs Deserve Better, a national nonprofit organization and dog rescue group.
The organization is asking for volunteers to create Valentine cards to send to the homes of dogs that are known to be living on a chain or penned in a kennel. Their goal is to mail out 18,000 Valentine cards throughout the United States, and other countries where they have representation, such as Canada and England.
They are asking for teachers, students, group leaders and individuals to create Valentine cards and mail to them by February 5, 2012. Samples of cards can be found on their campaign page as well.
If you know of an address where a chained or penned dog is living, you can submit the address anonymously on their page, so that household’s dog will receive a Valentine card and a treat.
If you want to become a sponsor and make a donation to support the campaign, you can scroll to the bottom of the page and make a donation. Donations are tax deductible!
What a creative idea for a campaign to bring awareness to this cause. I’m getting started on making some cards, how about you?
