Many people from around the world have been following the story of a dog named Lennox in Belfast, Ireland. Lennox was confiscated on May 19, 2010 because he was deemed to look like a pit bull. Lennox’s family has been fighting the Belfast City Council to have their dog returned to them, but have had no success. They have not even been allowed to visit with Lennox!
On September 30, 2011 the decision was made to put Lennox to sleep because of what he looks like. The status of Lennox’s case has been very quiet in the past few months until today. The news reported in this article that this may be the end for Lennox. The next court date is scheduled for January 26, 2012.
This is what happens when Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) laws are enacted. It breaks my heart because everyone I know considers their pets as members of their family. I cannot imagine what this family has endured in the past couple of years.
Please “Howl for Lennox” and pray for his safe return to his family. Lennox is now 6 years old, and I hope he gets to spend his last years with his family, not ending it through senseless euthanasia because of what he looks like.
