I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! This has been the busiest summer yet. It’s hard to believe the 4th of July is already here, and it’s a good time to remind everyone how to keep your pets safe during tomorrow’s celebrations.
The Humane Society of the United States published an article on how to keep your pets safe and recommends the following :
1. Keep all pets safely confined indoors on the 4th and the days leading up to it when people may be inclined to set off fireworks.
2. Never leave your pet in a parked car. On a warm day, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise to dangerous levels within minutes.
3. Consult your veterinarian if your pet is distressed by loud noises like fireworks displays.
4. Ensure your pet is wearing a collar and identification tag with current contact information so you can be reunited quickly if your pet does escape.
If your pet gets lost, please be sure to check your local animal shelters as soon as possibly. The shelters are usually overwhelmed with lost pets this time of the year.
Happy 4th of July everyone!!!
